Sam Barker
Sam began his martial arts journey at the age of 17 and has been deeply immersed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for over a decade. His passion for both Gi and No-Gi styles led him to earn rankings in both Combat Base and 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu. With a lifelong interest in martial arts, Sam quickly became a specialist in grappling, dedicating himself to mastering the art of jiu-jitsu. Over the years, he has competed on some of the UK's biggest stages, showcasing his skills at a high level. However, Sam believes in a balanced approach to training, appreciating both the competitive and self-defense aspects of jiu-jitsu.
Sam's dedication to the art extends beyond his personal practice; it’s become his life’s mission. As the head instructor and owner of the academy, he has fully committed himself to teaching and expanding jiu-jitsu in the Scarborough area. His decision to open his own academy was driven by a desire to make jiu-jitsu more accessible to the community, offering a wide range of classes at convenient times and providing a pathway for students of all ages to progress, from beginners to those aspiring to achieve a black belt.
